The Scottish Green minister, Patrick Harvie, has announced the allocation of £11m from the Scottish Government to decarbonise buildings in Edinburgh and East Scotland. One of the beneficiaries of the funding is Edinburgh University, which plans to use recycled heat from its data centres to warm buildings. The funding will also benefit projects in Fife and North Lanarkshire councils, and is part of the government's efforts to tackle emissions from buildings in order to achieve its Net Zero goal by 2045.
Users of Meta-owned WhatsApp and Instagram were left frustrated as the popular communication apps experienced a global outage. The services were down for several hours, causing disruptions for millions of users across the globe. The outage, which began around 11.45 pm IST on Wednesday, affected users attempting to log in to the apps or WhatsApp web. However, after several hours of outage, the services have now been restored, providing relief to users. This is not the first time that the Meta-owned platforms have faced an outage, as a similar issue occurred in March this year.
