The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a charge sheet against suspended Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Shahajahan Sheikh and six others for their involvement in the January 5 attack on an Enforcement Directorate (ED) team in Sandeshkhali, West Bengal. The ED team was attacked by a 1,000-strong mob while attempting to arrest Sheikh, who has been linked to a multi-crore ration distribution scam. Sheikh has also faced allegations of land-grabbing and sexual abuse from local women in Sandeshkhali. The CBI has taken over investigation in three related cases and has taken Sheikh into custody on March 6.
