The PWD aka Swaraj Maidan in VIJAYAWADA will now be known as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Swaraj Maidan. The Statue of Social Justice, a 206 ft. tall tribute to Bharath Ratna Babasaheb Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, is installed there and the precincts will be thrown open to the public from January 20. The Maidan is expected to become a prime attraction in the city and is India’s tallest non-religious statue.
Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, will unveil the world’s tallest bronze statue of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on Friday. The 125-foot-tall statue will be unveiled at the Ambedkar Smriti Vanam in Swarajya Maidan, Vijayawada. The statue is named Samajika Nyaya Mahasilpam, which translates to the Statue of Social Justice. The Chief Minister described the statue as the “greatest sculpture of social justice.”
