The Telangana state government has started the process of verifying and identifying eligible families for new ration cards under the 'Praja Palana' drive. The new cards will also entitle beneficiaries to the government's six guarantees, including free electricity and increased health coverage. The deadline for linking Aadhar with ration cards has also been extended to September 30 by the Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal has lifted a previous restriction for BPL cardholders, ensuring that electricity subsidies reach eligible families, regardless of their electricity bill. The announcement also includes a monthly provision of 2 liters of mustard oil for BPL cardholders with an annual income of ₹1,80,000 or less. These measures aim to support economically vulnerable households and ensure welfare schemes reach those in need. To be eligible for a BPL card in Haryana, an individual's monthly income must not exceed ₹6,400 in rural areas or ₹11,850 in urban areas.
