As campaigning for the Maharashtra Assembly elections comes to an end, Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not hold back in criticizing the Shiv Sena (UBT) and Congress. He accused the Shiv Sena of giving its remote control to the Congress and challenged them to get the party to praise the late Balasaheb Thackeray. Modi also slammed the Congress for being desperate for power and highlighted the reduced number of terror attacks in India under his government.
The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has declared war on Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, holding him responsible for the recent murder of Nationalist Congress Party leader Baba Siddique. The gang has warned anyone who supports Salman or the Dawood gang to be prepared for the consequences. This comes after Salman visited Siddique at the hospital and his residence after the shooting incident. Mumbai Police have increased security around Salman's residence as the gang has claimed responsibility for Siddique's death and made threats against the actor.
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sunetra Pawar filed her nomination for the upcoming Rajya Sabha bye-elections in Mumbai. The bye-election was called after the resignation of former NCP leader Praful Patel, who was re-elected earlier this year. If no other contestants come forward, Sunetra Pawar could potentially win the election uncontested. Sunetra Pawar recently lost the Lok Sabha election to her sister-in-law and NCP (SCP) leader Supriya Sule.
Nationalist Congress Party chief Ajit Pawar rejected the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) offer of the Minister of State with Independent Charge portfolio for his colleague Praful Patel, citing that Patel had previously served as a cabinet minister in the central government. Pawar stated that they would wait for a cabinet ministry instead, given that their ranks are expected to grow with the entrance of new Rajya Sabha members. The rejection came after the NDA's poor performance in the Lok Sabha polls in Maharashtra, with NCP winning only one seat while BJP and Shiv Sena secured 9 and 7 respectively. NCP's Sharad Pawar leader Rohit Pawar also commented on the rejection, stating that those who ally with BJP see a decrease in their power.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced that the Mumbai coastal road will soon be free of toll collections and the first phase of the project will be opened in January. Additionally, the minimum and maximum temperatures in Mumbai are expected to be between 21 to 31 degrees Celsius with fog/mist in the morning and a partly cloudy sky in the afternoon. In a separate development, Maharashtra Speaker Rahul Narwekar will deliver his verdict on disqualification petitions against CM Shinde and other MLAs. And, Nationalist Congress Party leader Sharad Pawar held a meeting to review the party's position in 10 Lok Sabha seats ahead of the upcoming general elections.
