In an attempt to gain support from the Yadav community, the BJP has recruited Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav to campaign in several "Yadav" dominated constituencies in Uttar Pradesh. As part of this strategy, Yadav inaugurated a BJP election office in Mainpuri and was scheduled to address a public meeting, but it was ultimately cancelled due to low turnout. The BJP hopes that Yadav's influence and popularity will help them make gains in these constituencies, which are traditionally held by their political rival, the Samajwadi Party.
