In a major boost for the mango industry in India's Uttar Pradesh state, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced plans to export 40 tonnes of mangoes to Japan and Malaysia, with Lucknow's famous Dussehri mangoes making their first-ever journey to the United States. This move is expected to greatly increase profits for Indian mango farmers, with costs for exporting to the U.S. estimated to be around 250-300 rupees per kilogram. At the mango festival in Lucknow, Adityanath also highlighted government efforts to support mango farmers through the establishment of pack houses and training seminars.
