Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has condemned the alleged vandalism of a statue of national leader Maharana Pratap by Samajwadi Party workers in Mainpuri. The incident took place after a roadshow by SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, prompting the police to file a case against 90-100 workers under various charges. CISCE has also announced the date and time for the release of ICSE Class 10 and 12 results on May 6 at 11 am, which were conducted in a pen-and-paper format.
UP police have registered an FIR against 100 Samajwadi Party workers for allegedly damaging the statue of Maharana Pratap in Mainpuri. The incident occurred after a roadshow held in support of Dimple Yadav, who won the Mainpuri by-election in 2022. The incident has sparked controversy with BJP workers accusing the SP workers of resorting to these tactics due to their fear of defeat in the Lok Sabha polls.
As the BJP enjoyed historic wins in Rampur and Azamgarh in the 2022 bypolls, the party is setting its sights on Mainpuri. This seat has been long held by the Samajwadi Party, and the BJP has never won it before. But with the recent passing of Mulayam Singh Yadav and his daughter-in-law Dimple Yadav's victory in the by-poll, the BJP sees an opportunity to make a play for Mainpuri. In fact, BJP leader Amit A Shah has promised to give more responsibilities to BJP candidate Jaiveer Singh if he wins the upcoming election.
