The CM's party has denied the allegations as baseless. Meanwhile, the Congress has threatened to protest over milk procurement prices and has demanded loan waivers for farmers, hinting at their agenda for the upcoming state legislature session.
The Maharashtra government recently announced major sops for the agriculture sector in its budget for 2024-25. These measures include free electricity for farmers, financial assistance for cotton and soybean farmers, and a special plan to increase productivity and value chain development. In addition, a subsidy for onion and cotton farmers as well as an incentive for dairy farmers were also announced in an effort to appease the angry farmers who played a significant role in the recent parliament election results.
