Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Jalgaon and Jodhpur on August 25. In Jalgaon, he will participate in the Lakhpati Didi Sammelan and interact with 11 lakh Lakhpati Didis. He will also release a Revolving Fund of Rs 2,500 crore and disburse bank loans worth Rs 5,000 crore to benefit SHGs. In Rajasthan, he will be the Chief Guest at the concluding ceremony of the High Court's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, announced in the Budget 2024 that the target for Lakhpati Didi, a program aimed at empowering rural women, will be increased from two crore to three crore. The Minister highlighted the success of Self Help Groups (SHGs) in transforming the rural socio-economic landscape and their contribution to making one crore women Lakhpati didi. The SHGs will be recognized and honored for their achievements.
