Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Jalgaon and Jodhpur on August 25. In Jalgaon, he will participate in the Lakhpati Didi Sammelan and interact with 11 lakh Lakhpati Didis. He will also release a Revolving Fund of Rs 2,500 crore and disburse bank loans worth Rs 5,000 crore to benefit SHGs. In Rajasthan, he will be the Chief Guest at the concluding ceremony of the High Court's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Jalgaon in Maharashtra and Jodhpur in Rajasthan on August 25, where he will be engaging with Lakhpati Didis and releasing a Revolving Fund of Rs 2,500 crore that will benefit 48 lakh members of 4.3 lakh Self-Help Groups (SHGs). During the Lakhpati Didi Sammelan, he will also award certificates to 11 lakh new Lakhpati Didis and disburse bank loans totaling Rs 5,000 crore to support 2.35 lakh SHGs. This initiative is part of the government's aim to empower three crore women as Lakhpati Didis. In Jodhpur, PM Modi will also serve as the Chief Guest at the concluding ceremony of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the Rajasthan High Court and inaugurate the Rajasthan High Court Museum.
President Droupadi Murmu spoke at the Lakhpati Didi Conference in Jaipur, commending the impact of schemes like Lakhpati Didi in changing the lives of women in the tribal society of Rajasthan. She emphasized the need for self-reliance at all levels of society and expressed her admiration for the self-governance and sustainable lifestyle practiced by tribal communities. The President called for a focus on education and skill development for women to ensure their leading role in India's development.
Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, announced in the Budget 2024 that the target for Lakhpati Didi, a program aimed at empowering rural women, will be increased from two crore to three crore. The Minister highlighted the success of Self Help Groups (SHGs) in transforming the rural socio-economic landscape and their contribution to making one crore women Lakhpati didi. The SHGs will be recognized and honored for their achievements.
