Five-time Mau MLA Mukhtar Ansari, who was serving a jail term for the murder of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai, died of cardiac arrest in a hospital in UP's Banda. Rai's son celebrated Ansari's death as "Baba Gorakhnath's aashirwad and Allah's justice" for his father's death in 2005. Ansari, who had over 60 police cases and 8 convictions, was believed to be behind Rai's murder due to their political rivalries.
Alka Rai, wife of late BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai who was killed by Mukhtar Ansari, expressed relief and satisfaction with the death of the gangster-turned politician in a hospital in Uttar Pradesh. Despite opposing parties raising questions, she defended the news of Ansari's death and claimed that they never celebrated Holi since her husband's murder. However, the son of the deceased stated that his father was given "poison" in the food and the serious allegations require a high-level investigation, as stated by BSP Chief Mayawati.
The death of infamous gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari due to a cardiac arrest on Thursday has raised suspicions of his son, who claims his father was deliberately slow-poisoned. Umar Ansari, the son, stated that they were not informed by the administration and will now take the matter to the judiciary. Mukhtar's brother and MP Afzal Ansari had also alleged earlier that he was being subjected to slow poisoning in jail. Ansari's death comes as he was serving sentences for the murder of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai and for using forged documents to obtain an arms license.
