The streets of Mumbai are bustling with energy and splendor as the city gears up for the ten-day long Ganesh Chaturthi festival, which honours the birth of the beloved elephant-headed god, Lord Ganesha. With more than 2,500 Ganesh mandals and popular pandals like `Lalbaugcha Raja' and Chinchpokli, the festival is a vibrant and joyous celebration of rituals, devotees, and deity. The occasion also brings in a surge in commerce and security, with throngs of people visiting markets for puja materials and approximately 15,000 police personnel on the streets.
