Despite being arrested in January 2021, Indian comedian Munawar Faruqui has yet to face a trial for allegedly making derogatory comments about Hindu deities during a show in Indore. The police are still investigating the case and have not submitted a chargesheet, while the prosecution department is awaiting permission from the state government to file one. Faruqui and four others were arrested on the complaints of Eklavya Singh Gaur, son of a local BJP MLA in Indore.
