The Chennai International Airport has issued a statement urging residents to refrain from burning waste materials for the Bhogi celebration in order to avoid disrupting air traffic. Bhogi is a bonfire celebration practiced before Pongal, the harvest festival of Tamil Nadu. The airport authorities have noted that in the past, the bonfire has caused flight disruptions and reduced visibility at the airport. To prevent this, they are distributing pamphlets to nearby villages to raise awareness about the impacts of the bonfire.
