In the highly anticipated 2024 Legislative Assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh, BJP candidate Dasanglu Pul emerged victorious from the Hayuliang constituency uncontested. With over 8.88 lakh eligible voters in the state, the elections were held simultaneously with the Lok Sabha polls. In the past, BJP has historically maintained a strong hold in the state, securing 41 seats in the 2019 Assembly elections. With a significant increase in the number of seats won compared to the 2014 polls, the saffron party continues to dominate in Arunachal Pradesh.
With votes being counted in the assembly elections of 50 seats in Arunachal Pradesh and 30 seats in Sikkim, the BJP has emerged victorious for the third time in a row in Arunachal Pradesh, securing a majority with 33 seats out of 60. The Election Commission officials have reported a massive security cover in place during the vote counting process. The BJP's victory in Arunachal Pradesh marks a significant win for the party in the Northeastern state.
The ruling BJP in Arunachal Pradesh has already secured a majority with 10 seats unopposed and currently has a lead in 22 other seats in the state's 60-member assembly. While the National People's Party is ahead in two seats and Congress' Chatu Longri is heading for victory in Miao constituency, the fate of 133 candidates will be decided today with final results expected by 11:30 am.
