Director R Ravikumar's Ayalaan, starring Sivakarthikeyan, Yogi Babu, and Rakul Preet Singh, explores the bond between an alien and an organic farmer while tackling themes of environmentalism and love. Despite its visually impressive VFX and action sequences, the film suffers from contrived writing and an oversimplified plot. While entertaining, it falls short of its potential to be a thought-provoking sci-fi flick.
R Ravikumar's 'Ayalaan' has finally hit the screens after an eight year wait, but it may not have the same lasting impact as his debut film. Starring Shivakarthikeyan as Tamizh, the movie follows a familiar story of a good versus evil plot. The alien named 'Tattoo' teams up with Tamizh to save the world from a dangerous crystal wielded by a power-hungry scientist (Sharad Kelkar) and his assistant (Isha Koppikar). Despite some financial constraints and a delayed production due to the pandemic, 'Ayalaan' still has the potential to be an entertaining watch, especially with the nuanced performances of its villainous characters.
