As the results for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections are being declared, SP's Anupriya Patel has emerged as the winner in the Mirzapur seat, defeating incumbent MP Anupriya Patel of ADAL. This year's election in Uttar Pradesh saw BJP and its allies contesting on 75 of the 80 seats, while opposition parties joined forces to win only 15 seats. The previous Lok Sabha elections in 2014 were dominated by the 'Modi wave', with BJP winning 71 seats and its ally Apna Dal securing two seats.
Apna Dal (Sonelal) has announced its candidate list for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, choosing Anupriya Patel as the party's candidate for Mirzapur constituency, where she is seeking a hat-trick of victories. The party also named Rinki Kol as their candidate for the Robertsganj seat, who is the sitting MLA from Chhanbey Assembly constituency. The Lok Sabha seats in Mirzapur and Robertsganj will go to polls in the seventh phase on June 1, and the results will be crucial for the BJP-led government in Haryana, which is in trouble after three independent MLAs withdrew their support.
